I have installed the Fourteen Colors plugin and it works fine on all browsers except I have found an issue with older Internet Explorer browsers.

On IE8 the colours are my fine until I hover over a menu, and sub menus which appear in the standard Black and Green colours for the Twenty Fourteen theme.

Also the side bar / top bar appear in Black initially and when you scroll down the screen the side bar continues in Black below my chosen colour when no more page content is shown.

I have tried to debug the CSS to work out what’s going on but am at a loss!

Any ideas how to resolve this issue?

IE8 and below use a completely different set of styles because they aren’t compatible with modern techniques. IE8 is on the way out, but I’ll look at adding overrides for IE-specific color rules in the next plugin update. I’m not convinced that all of these color rules are necessary, so I’ll see if this can be fixed/simplified in Twenty Fourteen core first, but I’ll need to get access to IE8 first to test on.

Basic fix added in https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/changeset/872115/fourteen-colors. Please note that there is no good reason to continue using IE8 once Windows XP reaches EOL in less than one month, so usage should drop considerably soon.

    Many thanks.

    That has resolved my issue.

I am not convinced XP and IE8 will disappear that quickly, our work is very reticent to get rid of them as lots of web based products we use work in these older versions on terminal servers.

A lot of home user will also continue to use XP especially in China.
