• Hello,
I was looking at my Menu in Lifestyle theme and noticed neither the email nor telephone links function as desired. Looking into this further I noticed that the menu settings when an item is added override the href and tel with http:.

Is their any way I can edit this directly or do something else to alleviate this and if so what file would I need edit?

    Thanks

    Wendy

  • It seems to be working correctly for me; when I checked your site at 7:34 pm Mountain time on my laptop and my phone (both using Safari), I was able to select “Email Me” and my mail client opened and I was asked if I wanted to call you when I clicked on your phone number. What browser and OS are you using?

hmmmm, ok, I am using Chrome and it just does nothing when clicked on.

I was thing because the links defualt to https:// instead of href: when inserted and I didn’t know how
to direct edit the html to change this.

I’m sorry, but I can’t seem to reproduce your issue. I just downloaded Chrome and I checked your site again and both the email and the telephone link worked correctly for me. What OS are you using? If you can find another site that has mailto: or tel: links, do they work correctly?

I am using Windows 10 and a Chrome Browser. Appreciate the help.
Wish I could just figure out which file to self edit and change it to href instead of the default http setting that is placed when editing a link in Lifestyle.

    Thanks

I don’t think this is a WordPress issue; I’ve checked your site with Chrome on a Windows 10 machine and I can see the appropriate code being output. I did notice that when I installed Chrome, it registered itself as the handler for mailto: links, instead of the built-in mail app. Can you verify that your computer is set up to properly handle mailto: links by going to Start > Settings > Desktop > Default Apps (on your computer, not on your website) and verify that the appropriate application is set under “Email”?

Thank you again. It was my Chrome service handler that was messed up. All is well now.

Hopefully you can get to my other question sometime about adjusting the header image size and if that’s possible in this theme.
