Menu hover / link hidden by header holder

I’m pretty new to all this, and haven’t yet gone line with my site ….

Just when I thought I was starting to get the hang of custom CSS, I seem to have caused some issues, and can’t for the life of me rectify them.

As you will see from the home page of my site, the menu and hover / hyperlink don’t line up. If I alter the margin of the topmenu, I can realign the link with the menu item; however I really want the menu to sit just above the slider image and want to get to the bottom of the issue.

From what I can establish, it seems to be caused by the holder of the header or the slider. Other than that, I’m stumped.
