Hi, I’ve been using this plugin show icons in my menu. It was working just fine up until a few days ago. Now, it doesn’t show the icons at all and, instead, just shows the text (even with the settings set to hide text and display just the icon). I did notice, though, that the problem happened after I installed another menu icon plugin. I’ve uninstalled the other plugin and even tried uninstalling/reinstalling this plugin to see if anything got mixed up with it. I’ve also checked the ftp plugin files to see if perhaps anything had been left behind from the other plugin, but there’s nothing to my knowledge. I’ve even tried using completely different plugins, unrelated to the two, but nothing works at all anymore. Can anyone help me with this issue? I would really love to be able to use the icons in my menu again. The menu text that I’m trying to change to icons is located at the top right (“Messages” and “Notifications”)

Side note: I do know that my theme uses something to transform certain text into icons on smaller devices, so maybe whatever that may be is interfering? And, it just so happens to be the text it changes is also the text I’m trying to permanently change into icons (live messages and notifications–a menu option that came with my theme). Still I wouldn’t know why it was working perfectly fine before.

Also, I noticed an extension called icomoon (under appearance > menus > menu icon settings) that’s been discontinued. I’m not sure how this got there or if it comes with the menu icon plugin originally, because I’ve never added any sort of extension to this.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I have just realized, though, that the only way to see the links in which I’m referring to is to actually be logged into the website. They are live messages/notifications menu links that came with my theme.

    Hi @ottomatek,

Thanks for choosing the Menu Icons plugin!

I tried to replicate this on my test instance, but everything works properly for me and the icons are displayed as expected. Does this occur on your end with a default theme like Twenty Twenty One as well?

    Thank you!

Hey, thanks for the reply. I actually came to realize that the problem was only occurring with my themes built-in menu links. Others work just fine. Currently, I am resulting to using just text for these links, now, but am confused why it worked before and not now. Maybe I was using some icons that came with the theme. I actually can no longer find the ones I was using.

    Hello @ottomatek!

I’m glad to hear the other menus display the icons properly. Could you please tell us what theme do you use so we can try to replicate this on our end?

    Thank you!
