In WP each menu item in the nav menu bar has a link. I’ve forgotten where those links are located so that I can edit them. Thanks.

When you are signed into your WordPress admin you can edit your menus by going to Appearance -> Menus

That’s where I went. No links are there that I can edit.

Perhaps it happens automatically? When you assign a page to a menu and choose a nav name for the page, the link automatically exists. Is that correct?

Yes that is correct. If you want a link to point to a location that is not a page/post etc, you can add a custom link instead of a page or post link, which will enable you to enter any URL as the link.
