Menu items overlap on tablets or small screens

My site uses the Responsive theme. When I view it on a tablet or shrink my desktop browser beneath 800px wide, the items in the nav menu overlap each other. I much prefer the menu dropdown option that appears when I view the site on a phone. How can I modify the way the menu is presented on a tablet or mid-size screen?
