    Upon setting up Menu links in the side bar, I note that all the pages existing show up as links.

    Some of my main pages will have 100’s of sub pages.

    How do I ensure that the only page links which appear on the navigation links, are the main ones and that the sub pages only appear when the main page link is clicked?

    Also

    Say I were to add 100 Main Pages, does this mean that 100 links will appear in the navigation bar? How can I control this? [a plugin?].

    The latter being said, should I assume that WP beyond its basic template, gets built as in effect a series of plugins?

    I am looking to build a music portal, am I barking up the wrong tree?

  • No you are barking up the right tree. Plugins expand the default functionality. There are plugins for everything.

    The plugin you are looking for is called Flexi Pages Widget. I used it to do exactly what you are looking to do.

    You can use the plugin to answer your second question as well.
