Yes this is possible, however it is not built into the main plugin. This functionality is provided through the Breadcrumb NavXT Title Trixx premium extension plugin.

I bought the extension, but I don’t see any way to use the menu name rather than the page title for the breadcrumbs. In fact, I don’t see any difference in my breadcrumbs settings. After I bought the plug-in extension the instructions said they could use Yoast SEO information. That is definitely not what I want. I just want short little names just like the nav menu. How do I do that?

Sorry, I missed the “menu” portion of your request. Breadcrumb NavXT Title Trixx will allow you to manually set a shorter/alternate title to use in the breadcrumb for the post/page (will show up as a meta box if you do not have Yoast SEO or All in One SEO active).

However, if you want to automatically pull in the titles for a resource from a specific menu, Breadcrumb NavXT Menu Magic does that. Note that Breadcrumb NavXT Menu Magic will also pull the hierarchy information from the specified menu rather than using the normal hierarchy for items found in that menu.

Please feel free to open a support ticket on my site to resolve this.
