• Forgive me if this has already been posted, I didn’t see it in the sea of posts. After upgrading to the newest version yesterday, I can now not re-organize my top-menu. If I try to click and drag I get a series of empty slots that appear and keep multiplying but I can’t actually move anything. See SS here: Any thoughts on the issue? Thanks!

  • Did you go through the troubleshooting steps in this thread?

I had exactly the same problem and went through the troubleshooting steps, it turned out to be the SweetCaptcha plugin. Try FunCaptcha instead. I have notified the authors of SweetCaptcha.

Since the 3.6 upgrade, the new menu “undoes” any menu child items
I had 20 links with only 7 main buttons meaning most of the links were as child submenus. Saving the menu now shoves all items to the left.

I have deactivated all plugins, changed through 3 themes; but the menu fails each time its saved. It takes all the subnavs and shows them as left justified only. Thus, the display of the menu instead of being organized into pulldowns are scattered all over the top of the menu area. What can I do to get the menu to work correctly?

You’ll have to forgive me as I am fairly new to doing this. I only have one plugin on the website and I deactivated it (the Simple Slideshow Manager) and it didn’t help. I do not have access to the server to delete the “wp-admin and wp-includes folders” but did try re-installing and didn’t help. I haven’t tried switching themes yet but am hesitant to – does this affect all the work I am have done on the installed theme? I don’t want to loose anything.

Not I even downloaded 3.6 and moved a fresh version of wp-admin. Yet the menu is still broken. Everything left justifies no matter what. Does anyone have a fix to this problem?

Guys? (Not directed at Lizz) You need to create your own threads to discuss your own issues. It’s important threads are segregated like this so that we can easily keep track of who’s having which issue. Often similar issues experienced by others do not come to the same solution.

Any other suggestions? And can anyone confirm if I switch themes if I will loose all my work so far? Menu is still not working at all. Thanks!

i would like to know if someone finds a solution or new release.
I also have the same problem, that i cannot work with child menu enties since updating on 3.6

@trossacher: As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. Posting in an existing topic prevents us from being able to track issues by topic. Added to which, your problem – despite any similarity in symptoms – is likely to be completely different.

Okay, so just did the 3.6.1 upgrade and STILL having this issue. It is extremely frustrating. I need to edit my menu!!! Please advise!

As a temporary workaround until WordPress fixes this issue you can add new pages with the following steps:

    1. Add page like normal (from the options on the left sidebar pages/categories etc…), page will appear at bottom of menu.
    2. Save the menu (with page at the bottom still)
    3. When the menu saves/page refreshes, scroll to the bottom where the new menu item is located, use the top-right dropdown arrow to reveal the extra options, use the links such as ‘up one, down one, to top’ to move the menu items.

This is a really terrible way to manage the menu (especially a large one) but it’s working in the meantime. The key is to save the menu before you try to use the links to move it around – they only work on saved menu items, not news ones added to the menu without a save.

You can also manage the position of existing pages using those links.

I’ve also filed a bug report a few weeks back that is being worked on for a related issue where the Javascript that runs the drag/drop is causing the browser to crash – fixing/testing that bug should help with this one. https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/25112

Thank you for the tip Thomas – I shall try that!

those who are having menu structure drag & drop issues install this plug in and you are on again…

    google ajax libraries

So fwiw, it seems really counterproductive to limit the discussions to a single user. If multiple users are having the exact same issue (which I am having) it would make sense for the group to talk.

    Will follow tsdexter’s advice. Thanks…

    Here’s why:

Unless you are using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster, do not post in someone else’s thread. Start your own topic.
