    Hello everyone!

While still working on a low budget for my website, I encountered a problem with my menu. I am not sure how long it has happened but I received several emails that readers could not check the different categories in the menu. (You can look here at https://geekpreview.net)

I have permalinks set for Post Name.

-Disabling all plugins does not work and shows my HostGator 404 Page.
-Setting Permalinks to Default shows HostGator 404 Page.
-Regularly, it will come up with a 404 page.
-I’ve tried creating a new menu and using that; it doesn’t work.

Whenever you click a menu item (such as movies or video games) it is supposed to show the appropriate category, but it doesn’t. I’m pulling my hair out here! Thank you so much!

Also, I am using the magup theme.

This is not a bump. I am updating on other methods I have tried.

I tried reverting to another theme and going back to default. This did nothing and leads to HostGator 404 page.

I then went into my files via FTP and did the process of disabling plugins, defaulting permalinks, and deleting .htaccess. This did nothing at all and it’s back to where it was.

    -Custom Link menu items work
    -Contact page works.
-When you click a category it still does not show.

Your categories and menu links based on categories are working fine. Try a different browser, view from another computer or clear your browser history.

I had to default permalinks and then deactivate each plugin seperately.

Then, I had to go back and go between default and custom permalinks. After checking for the menu to work, I had to activate the plugins and widgets one by one to see what was giving me problems.

The problem plugins were: WordPress SEO

This should be known: WordPress SEO does this to websites, but you can keep it. Go to the settings of WordPress SEO on the dashboard.

Go to “permalinks” and UNCHECK the “don’t include /category/ base in links.”

This will let you show your categories again! Wish I would have seen this before I deleted it!
