• Hi, are menus really supposed to be unsupported by default in Twenty Twenty-Two?

I know that I can enable them by adding add_theme_support( 'menus' ); to functions.php using ‘Theme file editor’ under Tools, but I’m really puzzled that they would be turned off in the first place.

Just wanted to check if this was a deliberate decision, or if I’ve somehow disabled them myself, or what?

    Thanks!

Hi @oolong, Twenty Twenty-Two is a block theme, meaning that it relies on the newly introduced Full Site Editing (FSE) feature in order to create your site. With FSE, you add menu items to the Navigation Block to create your menu:

Along with that, here’s some information from the theme’s sticky post that might be helpful:

Twenty Twenty-Two is the new default theme that was launched alongside WordPress Version 5.9 in January 2022. As the first-ever default block theme, Twenty Twenty-Two invites you to explore full site editing and create a site that reflects your individual vision. This is a new approach to site building than what most are used to with WordPress so to help you get started, here are a few resources to explore:

Learn about the Twenty Twenty-Two Theme and the various full site editing features it unlocks.

Learn about Block Themes and how they allow you to edit all parts of your site with blocks.

Take a course on Learn WordPress about how to build a site with full site editing and the Twenty Twenty-Two Theme

I hope this helps you get going!
