Menus – Pages Not Structured Correctly

    When in “Appearance” -> “Menus”, the structure of the pages does not match my pages under “Pages”.

    When in “Menus” and I want to add a page to my menu, I can see the first maybe 20 pages are structured correctly when viewing “All” pages.

    By this I mean that child pages are indented correctly to help me identify what page I want to add to my menu.

    But as I mentioned above, after around 20 pages in the listing there is no longer any indentation of the child pages and most are in the incorrect order. I’m currently having to inspect element to see the URI of the page.

    The site currently has around 80 pages – most of which are child pages.

    Here’s a screenshot of what “View All” looks like, you can see after around 20 pages – there is no longer any indentation of the pages.

    Why am I seeing it like this? Should it not continue it’s indentation?

  • Hello,

    I think this might be caused by the way you have the pages ordered under the Pages admin menu. When you click to edit a page; you have an option to set it as a child page of another page.

    So, edit a page, then look over to the right side of the screen. You should see a section named “Page Attributes”. In that section is a dropdown labeled “Parent”. This is where you set the parent page of the page you are editing.

    I would make sure the pages that are not indented in your menu section, have a parent page set.

    Hey Josh,

    Most of my pages already have a parent, I am 100% certain that my pages are in the correct order when I view “Pages” from the sidebar.

    My issue is that when I see the pages when I want to add them to my menu, the indentation of them just stops after around 20 pages. See my screenshot I posted here earlier (https://cl.ly/1A2l0U2A232P)

    Everything after the “Jargon Buster” just doesn’t display correctly. Not like the other 20 pages above it.
