• After updating my WordPress to 4.2.5, the menus for my theme (Personal Finance from ThemePix) won’t work. The drop-down menus won’t display, and when I try to create a new menu list and save it as my primary menu, nothing changes on the front end of the website. At first I thought it was specifically a theme issue, but after reading about a similar problem on these forums, one of the user suggested that it was specifically an issue with saving the menu structure on the back end so that it appears correctly on the front end. If that’s so, does anyone have a suggestion for how to fix this glitch? Here is what the site looks like: https://www.scottimmigration.com/

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I did try deactivating the plugins and adding them back one by one, but the menus still won’t work, and what’s more, now the slider on my homepage won’t display. WordPress is such a headache.

When I switch to a default theme, all the submenus become their own separate menus, so there are rows of menus across the top of the page.

Deactivate all plugins and revert to the 2015 theme. Then – without changing anything else – see if any changes to your menus work.
