    Hey Yoast team,

we just encountered a problem with Yoast. It generates a message saying that we have added a new taxonomy and should check the page /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpseo_titles#top#taxonomies

If we enter this page and leave it, the message and the red message badge next to the Yoast icon in the admin header bar are gone.

As soon as we enter the design page /wp-admin/themes.php showing the two installed themes Divi and Twenty-Twenty Three the red badge and the message comes back.

WordPress is 6.1.1, PHP is 7.4, all themes and plugins are the latest versions.

    Greetings,

    -doffine

  • Hi @doffine,

    Thanks for reaching out.

If you believe you have already optimized the content types and taxonomies, please follow the steps below:

    1. First, navigate to?Yoast SEO?>?Search Appearance?> click the?Content Types?tab > and click the Save changes button without making any changes.
    2. Then navigate to?Yoast SEO?>?Search Appearance?>?Taxonomies?> and click the Save changes button without making any changes.
    3. If the notification still appears, kindly Install and activate the?Yoast Test Helper plugin. Then navigate to?Tools?>?Yoast Test >?Locate the?YOAST SEO?section and then click on “Reset Notices“. Then check if the notice is permanently removed or not.

    Hello @jeroenrotty,

now I found some time to try your above solution. I performed all of your steps. But I have to say it didn’t work. Even the reset with the Yoast test helper plugin didn’t remove the notification with the new taxonomy permanently.

It is always enough just to go on the Appearance > Themes page and the notification is instantly back.

We as an agency see this in different Yoast installations on completely different websites and different servers. WordPress versions are most current and PHP is 8.1. What can we do next? This somehow looks like a Yoast bug or perhaps -incompatibility.

Greetings and thank you for your help,

    Hey @doffine,

Thank you so much for your elaborate response.

I was able to revisit the issue and was able to see that we have an open bug report about this, which you can see here. At this time, I don’t have a workaround or fix for you, but please know that our dev team is looking into it.
