Messages not sending after migrating site

I recently moved hosts and now Contact Form 7 doesn’t send messages anymore. It used to work on my previous host, but now when I try to submit a message, the message isn’t sent, and I get the feedback “THERE WAS AN ERROR TRYING TO SEND YOUR MESSAGE. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.”
The message is invisible at a glance because it is all white, just like the rest of the website.
I don’t have any captcha settings enabled, and I have tried deleting and re-installing the plugin without any improvements.
Do I need to set up SMTP on the site for it to work?
