Messaging feature (compose)

Is there a way to make the messaging easier and work. Currently if you click on the logo of a user you can message them. But, you have to re type in their name. It would be easier if it pre populated. Also, would be easier if a list similar to yammer app drops down w users to message.

Anyway to change the font color to white. You could barely see the text when typing a message because the current color of dark grey blends in with the background.
