I’m sorry about this poor experience. Nothing in the simple banner should make you have to restore your site. The plugin puts a new html element after your body tag and only interacts with that. Deactivating the plugin will also remove everything used in the plugin from your site.
If you still wish to use the plugin, activate it and set the banner as hidden and then open a support ticket. That will allow me to debug your issue and give you a simple fix. Disabling and enabling other plugins is usually a last resort to diagnose issues if nothing else works.
