Meta, Comments, Site Admin, Valid XTML, XFN

  • Hi all, I am sure this question has been asked before but even though i have searched I cannot find an answer to my problem. The following list of links appear at the bottom of my page and I cannot get rid of them. Please can someone help – and also to add to the problem, I am a total novice with WP so if you can explain the solution in layman’s terms I will be enternally greatful!! ??

  • you can use widgets
    admin – appearance – widgets
    once you add a widget, the “Meta” will disappear – if you then want it later, you would add the meta widget

    if not using widgets and don’t want to, you will need to edit theme’s sidebar.php

    Hi, I tried to remove the widget but it refuses to budge.

    And if I try to edit the sidebar I am told:

    You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.

    I did view the codex info but it makes no sense to me! Please, tell me there is something else I can do? I am getting a lot of spam messages via those tags………?

    you put new widgets on the sidebar? that’s what you need to do to get rid of the stuff above.

    That should work, if not…you need to learn how to use ftp software to change permissions on your theme files to make them editable.

    filezilla is the ftp I use

    Adding + removing this widget is the easy part.
    Anyone know how to just edit it? w/ out removing it?
    I’d like to keep the login logout links,
    while removing
