• I have a wordpress site. I also have Yoast SEO. Website

    [ redundant link removed ]

Now if I type this in yahoo mail or in a forum or a place like Slack. My meta data shows up. Then it shows a picture below it.

    In Yahoo Mail

What it is taking in the first image from [ redundant link removed ] and using that. My question is why is it doing this? How do I stop it? and how do I change the image? I have changed the main image in the Yoast Seo setup Wizard. But it is still using the image from the home page. The first image in the body of the website.

Anyone know how to change this or?

I do not know if this is a Yoast thing or just a basic wordpress thing (either something I need to change in wordpress or add another plugin for).

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • It is not a WordPress thing.
Each service has their own method of generating a preview. There are sort of some standards. Facebook uses Open Graph tags. Not sure what Yahoo Mail uses. If they don’t find what they are looking for, they typically use the first image found.
Yoast SEO has options to supply the Open Graph tags, unique for each page or one default image.
Some services (like Facebook) also save what they find and don’t query the page again. That means that you can fix the page, but it still shows the old image it found the first time. There is also caching involved.

Thank you. That was sort of driving me crazy. I actually just replaced the first image with my logo. Personally I would rather just have nothing but this is definitely much better this way.
