    Hi,

The meta data for a new site that I spent several hours on yesterday including social meta has been wiped out and not saved – which it most certainly was when I left the site last night?

I see there was another update overnight to 4.09 – will this resolve this issue? Why force updates on your huge loyal followers and cause them untold grief with untested and buggy updates? Worse still, no option to revert to a previous working version.

2020 continues to be a year of crazy decisions, releasing updates on themes, plugins and even WP itself causing massive problems for people.

Can you reply to this so I know that it is being addressed and I can spend all day doing backups and restoring instead of actually doing any progressive work.

Please provide us all with a working previous version and the upgrade by choice not by forcing us to use this incomplete upgrade..

    Hey @stemcpt,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you and we’re happy to work with you on resolving this.

Can you elaborate on the issue you’ve experienced – did you enter social meta in the old version (3.7.1), then upgrade to the newest and it got wiped, or did you simply enter it in the new version right away, and it got wiped?

In the meanwhile, you should be able to download the old version here – https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/all-in-one-seo-pack.3.7.1.zip

We actually tested this update for weeks but there are still various issues out there “in the wild” that we couldn’t account for during our testing (conflicts with minor plugins/themes, environment issues, etc.) so we’re trying our best to work through those as quickly as we can.

Thanks for the reply and appreciate there will never be a perfect significant upgrade, however you only need to look at all these issues pouring in to see that the launch perhaps was premature and some of them appear to be basic functionality.

Anyway, no, I auto upgraded like most others to the new version and spent yesterday populating the standard meta data, social meta on a site, to find that overnight another bug solving update had been released and the all the meta fields with data had either disappeared or become corrupted with plugin settings changed as well. Clearly the auto update had done it.

I’ve since disabled auto update to get myself back to where I was and will lock it off on what I have (hopefully), monitor the situation see how the bug fixes roll out and keep exporting my backups even more regularly.

Spending some time going through other websites to see if there is any corruption in existing settings, as the issues I am reading about here and the effect and damage this is having on SERP’s positioning etc – is worrying.

All else fails in time I may need to revert to a stable release before this huge update.

Worst case – Mr de Valk (with glass in hand) must be reading this and thinking all his christmases have arrived at once.

Hope you can get these bugs resolved and get us back into a position of stability that was the cornerstone of this product and why so many people are/were using it!

    Merry Christmas!

    Hey @stemcpt,

First of all, happy holidays to you as well!

Thank you for getting back to us, we really appreciate it.

If you happened to update from version 4.0.6 to a newer one, then it may be that the v3-v4 migration ran again. We had to do this because users with a static frontpage were running into a fatal error. As a result, a lot of their remaining settings and data didn’t get carried over to the new version, and since we had no way of knowing for who it failed exactly and for who it didn’t, we had to retrigger the migration.

If this happened while you were already on a later version, then we’ll definitely need to continue investigating this.

In any case, I wanted to assure you that we still have a bunch of people from the original team working on this plugin, and we are still dedicated to creating a great product. Most of us are really (like, seriously) passionate about All in One SEO, including myself, so we definitely won’t let you down in the future.

For this latest update we completely rebuild the plugin from the ground up. We had to do this so we can realize all the exciting plans we have for the plugin in the future. Like I said earlier, we did a LOT of testing before releasing this, now we just need to resolve whatever issues we couldn’t identify on our own. However, once we get past this, you should be able to expect the same quality you’re used from us.

On another note, I noticed your profile picture and see that you visited my home town. I hope you liked it. ??

I did indeed, a weekend of chocolate fountains and architecture ?? – although a few years ago.

Best of luck to the team with solving these issues.

Is there a quick fix available so that All Export will export all the meta data fields?

I’m getting corrupted excel sheets with missing Titles and descriptions.

    Thanks
