When yoast makes the character count in the meta description does not do the count well, even if you do not reach the 156 characters indicated as maximum (including blanks) indicates that you have exceeded them. I have written a meta description that has 150 characters including spaces and it indicates that it has exceeded the 156 characters and to reduce the text. Should this be fixed?

    Hello @jcaspen

Thanks for using the Yoast SEO. Generally speaking,?meta descriptions are between 150 and 170 characters, and Google truncates the ones that exceed this length. We suggest keeping the length to 156 characters maximum, though that maximum also includes the date (which can be added to the search results by Google). For example, “February 16, 2023 – ” adds 16 more characters to the meta description. So, in this example, you need to write a meta description with the remaining 140 characters.

It’s important to factor it in when you decide on the right length of your meta description. Unfortunately, there’s no way to control whether this date is shown or not directly, but you can try to?manage the dates they use in the search results.
