Meta description on homepage

Hi,

I am using Customizr (free version) with Yoast SEO installed.

I am trying to add a meta description for my front page. However, when i try to add the description on the Yoast plugin it tells me “You can determine the title and description for the front page by editing the front page itself ?” but i have no idea where to edit this on the front page itself?.

If i goto the settings> reading and change to static page then i can edit this in yoast but i cannot choose my front page as the static page?.

Any help appreciated.
