META description set wrong (UTF-8 encoding)

    Hello there,

    I have a romanian wordpress with Yoast SEO 3.0.7 installed. The META DESCRIPTION template set up in Yoast SEO parameters is: %%excerpt%%.

    The description looks good in the post edit Meta Description field, but in the source page is generated with ASCII chars.

    Example: My description (excerpt) is this one:
    A doua zi dupa moarte – Dan Stanca:Dan Stanca este singurul prozator de factur? eliadesc? pe care-l avem. Singurul la care realismul cotidian

    But in the page source it looks like this:
    A doua zi dupa moarte – Dan Stanca:Dan Stanca este singurul prozator de factură eliadescă pe care-l avem. Singurul la care realismul cotidian &#3

    I know this topic may have been addressed several times before, but I was only able to find 3 years old resolutions (changing the wpseo-functions.php) that are not working anymore.

    Can anybody support me?
