  • Google may not be using meta keywords, but Bing and Yandex still might be using it. Well, what happens to the already existing or used meta keywords in earlier posts or products, Does this update deletes it from database or it remains the database, but Yoast simply ignores it?

Bing only uses them as a SPAM signal: https://searchengineland.com/the-meta-keywords-tag-lives-at-bing-why-only-spammers-should-use-it-96874. Which means, using them can only hurt your site ranking in Bing. Our SEO team discusses this topic in more detail here: https://yoast.com/meta-keywords/

That said, the meta keywords were left in the database, for now, so reverting to the previous version will bring them back.

In the article is wrote that Duane Forrester of Bing says: “meta keywords is a signal” and “Abusing meta keywords can hurt you”.

They says that the use of meta keywords is a signal to see if there is a over use of keywords. That means taht is a signal of spam only if I abuse of meta keywords.
