    Hi,

    I’m not a techy person, still learning heaps about this stuff. I notice many websites’ source code has meta name=”keywords” content…… in their website code. Does the absence of this code affect how my websites are found?

    I notice my wp themes Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven don’t. Nor is there a meta name= “description”…. of the website.

    Instead they just have something like this: <meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 3.2.1″ />

    I notice many of the top ranking websites have their meta keywords in the code.

    Should I add the meta keywords and description?

    My sites SEOs are optimized with Yoast SEO plugin.

    Thanks in advance.

  • That Plugin might have an option for entering Keyword and description through the backend.
    And Yes of course it is necessary to tell the Search Engine Spiders about the type of content your site contains….

    Ok, thanks, I will have another look but to date haven’t found an option in Yoast SEO to add these.

    If there is no option in Yoast, will I have to change the code in the editor or is there another way to add these to the themes?

    Cheers

    Yes, then you need to enter these tags manually,
    You can do this Throught
    Appearance-> Theme Editor -> Header.php

    Put the tags in there…
    Or you may try another plugin All in one SEO Pack
