Meta Tags, Description

My apologies if this issue has been discussed a few times before, but I have just taken over content maintenance of a website created in WordPress, but the files sit on a Yahoo server. I would like to add meta tags and a meta description to the index page. I have read some of the support documents on how to add meta tags, but I really want to avoid going into the file manager in Yahoo to do this…? Anyway to do this directly through WP? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! RG
