meta title obligatory ?

    Greeting,

    am working on a front end website, and I was wondering if the meta name”title” is still required for the SEO ? may i just focus on <title> ?

    I saw that twentyseventeen wp theme and last yoast plugin do not include it, so, just wondering.

  • meta name title is not required anymore by the largest search engines, they are both semantically correct but the <title> tag is the recommended way.

    The <title> tag is what we recommend that you use and prioritize as it is the valid HTML markup. The <meta name=”title”> tag is just metadata content, and different crawlers will use or not use that information as they see fit.
