metadata when file is removed.

I think I miss a feature. When you have a manual removed an image (FTP) then their is still a link to the removed image in the _wp_attachment_metadata. When this link is used by a theme, the image cannot be displayed.

Is it possible that the plugin also updates the _wp_attachment_metadata in this case?
