    Hi there,

I updated my wordpress yesterday to 4.1. Now I have no slides tab, no slides and the slide show on my homepage is simply a white block

Unfortunately I am not even close to be a beginner on this but I tried to reinstall meteor slides plug in and it says it already exists but is not in my installed plugins (active or otherwise).

    Can someone help???
    Thanks
    Libby

Hi Libby, maybe the plugin update was incomplete or corrupt? Do you have FTP access? I would try manually deleting Meteor Slides via FTP and reinstalling it.

You could also try deactivating your other plugins to see if there is a conflict that is hiding the Meteor Slides.

    Thanks Josh.

It is possible it crashed during the updates I was doing so possibly.

FTP you’ve lost me I am afraid. I’m able to follow instruction but have no idea if I have acces.

I am on Mac. I will try deactivating all first.

    Thanks

    No that didn’t work.

Can you help get in to FTP?

Can you post a link so I can see if it is loading anything at all on the frontend? What is your webhost? It might be easier for you to delete the files via their admin rather than FTP.

    Webhost is godaddy.

    Website is https://www.thetrainingcompany.me.uk

    Thank you

Yeah, the plugin is missing some files, and isn’t loading anything on the frontend. GoDaddy has a file manager in their hosting admin. If you contact their customer support they can either delete this directory or show you where to delete it yourself:

Ok thank you for your help.

I will let you know if I have further issues. If not I will of course mark this as resolved.
    Thank you again.

You’re welcome, after you get the plugin fully deleted you should have no problem being able to reinstall it.

I have the same problem here. Deleting the folder and reinstalling it did not solve the problem. I can still see the slider on my page, but not access (and thus change) it in the frontend.

Has there been any solution to this issue?

@obeibusiness Do you have any other plugins installed? Try deactivating your other plugins. Can you post a link to the page you have this slideshow on?

Seems I found the error. Something with capabilities seems to be wrong. I use the “WPFront User Role Editor” plugin to manage capabilities, and when I activate it I can’t access Slides, though I’m Administrator. When I deactivate it I can access the Slides menu.

You can use the Members plugin with Meteor Slides, it is possible that those custom capabilities are conflicting with the WPFront User Role Editor, I would check to see if there are custom caps for Meteor Slides in that plugin’s role manager, or if you can add the custom caps that Meteor Slides uses.

Hey Josh, I just started using User Role Editor (different from WPRront User Role Editor) and am having same problem. Meteor Slides disappears from the admin panel menus even though I am logged in as the administrator, a role that is supposed to be unrestricted. My slides are working on the front end; just can’t access on backend to configure. https://tampaarts.com

Hi terrisi, did the reply in this thread help you resolve this?

Hi Josh, I am sorry I didn’t see your response or the other one until today. I followed Vladimir’s instructions and once I found where to access the admin capabilities, all was returned to normal. I had been turning the URE plugin off and on to manage the slides. Thank you so much for responding.
Let me take a moment to say I’ve been using Meteor Slides for a few years now after a recommendation by Emil U. It’s a great plug in.
