• Hi,
Hello. It’s easier to build the website from the web hosting as it saves the complication from having to upload from local host, right? i heard that it would be advisable to build the website from a directory and transferring to the main url when completed so that people can’t see the half-completed website at the main url. Is it true?

I.e. if the website is https://www.abc.com , i’ll build the website into https://www.abc.com/construction
Upon completion, transfer it to https://www.abc.com? WordPress is really new for me, is it simple to do the transfer, what are the steps to do the transfer ?

    Thank you,
    John

Yes, but use a subdomain instead, like new.example.com, as it will be treated like an entirely separate domain and will avoid the side-effects or running a subdirectory installation.

Most hosting providers allow you to easily add a subdomain to an existing domain in their account control panel.

One you’re done, follow this guide to move it to the main domain: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress#Changing_Your_Domain_Name_and_URLs
