Micro Coda-like Slider needed

Has anyone ever come across a plugin/widget/shortcode to use a coda-like slider IN page content. My boss wants to put these little “side buckets” (her words, lol) of information on a bunch of different pages. She wants a slider/slideshow of all the projects our company has done, then for the little thumbnails to link to the full page.

The closest thing I can think of is a Coda slider with a “read more” button, but I need to be able to put at least a dozen, on random pages, and have the content different in each one. So, basically, I need to define the contents of the slider in the page content itself, either by hidden code or shortcode somehow.

Anyone have any ideas, or seen anything similar? I would use NextGen Gallery and just use albums of images for each one, but she likes the “numbers” as the navigation and wants the text to not be in the image itself.

Like I said, any ideas?
