Microsoft (Redmond) and Google (Mountain) are showing up in the IPs that are showing as IPs throttled for accessing the site too frequently.

How can I approve those IPs?

  • Those will be a variety of IP numbers, some with fake spoofed referrers or else using cloud services that actually are not Microsoft nor Google, that just pass through their cloud so as to look legitimate (and help Microsoft and Google make money), best just keep your settings that throttle crawlers that go to fast. Legit MS and Goog obey robots.txt, so set crawl rate in there that’s slow enough not to trigger your Wordfence throttling or blocking, that’ll perhaps help give the non criminal bots free access. I limit all crawl speeds quite severely on a fully monetized site with over 4,000 post and pages, have had no trouble with search engines finding stuff to index.

Thank you. Yes, the IP numbers take me to MS and Google addresses.

    Appreciate your note.

Yes, I was concerned about search engines I want… to find me.

    Hi,
I would suggest rechecking the “Rate Limiting” settings in (Wordfence > Firewall > Rate Limiting) specially “If a crawler’s page views exceed” option, make sure not to set these limit too restrictive.

When some IPs are throttled, you don’t need to worry about that, they will be set free again when the load of requests initiated by them revert back to a normal value that doesn’t violate the settings adjusted in Rate Limiting rules.

    Thanks.
