Microsoft Edge freeze/hangs when using WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway

    Hello,
    I’ve a weird issue with your plugin. I’ve noticed that when opening my website on Edge every page that load the javascript related to WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway make Microsoft Edge to freeze/hang for around 3-4 minutes. During this freeze the browser is unusable and the only way to get out is to wait or kill the browser. The issue rehappen at every page load, not only the first time that the page is loaded.
    I’ve tried also in incognito mode and the behaviour is the same.

    I’ve the confirmation that the cause is your javascript because:
    1) if I disable your plugin everything works fine
    2) I’ve checked with fiddler and the Edge browser crash in the exact moment when the resources are loaded from q.stripe.com

    I’ve tried to disable all other plugins but it doesn’t helped.

    The issue is related to MS Edge only, other browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari) are working fine. I’ve tried with many PC so I can exclude an issue with my specific client and browser.
    My Edge version is 88.0.705.74 on Windows 10 but I had this issue also with the previous version.

    It’s very weird because with Chrome (version 88.0.4324.182) I haven’t any issue. Since Edge is based on Chromium I will expect the same behaviour between Edge and Chrome, but there is something different that’s generating this issue.

    Do you have any suggestion? Any othe user has encountered the same issue?

    Obviously it’s a very bad issue because any user with Edge is unable to buy items on our ecommerce.

    Thank you for elaborating on the issue that you are having. It was very helpful.

    I’ve tested this on my end, and I couldn’t reproduce this issue, it worked fine. By any chance, did you try using the Storefront theme in order to discard that the JS error isn’t coming from the theme that you are using? If not, please change to the Storefront theme and check if you are still having this issue.

    I tested this under the following environment:

    • WordPress: v5.6.1
    • Theme: Storefront
    • Plugins:
    • WooCommerce: v5.0
    • WooCommerce Stripe Gateway: v4.8.0
    • Browser: Microsoft Edge version 88.0.705.74 (Official build) (64-bit)
