Might Be Great, But Not For Novices…

  • Would someone please create a plugin which is as simple as the importer which is built in to WordPress, but which actually works? I can’t be the only person who wishes to move a blog from WordPress.com to self hosting without getting a Phd from WordPress University.

    I get that some people have specialized needs which require more sophisticated software and a learning curve etc. It’s great that tools are available for such needs.

    All I want to do is move a blog from Host A to Host B. All I have to work with is the XML file and images. Isn’t WordPress.com huge? Aren’t lots of other people in the same situation?

    The importer built in to WordPress has the right idea when it comes to simplicity, but it’s so unreliable as to be largely worthless. I’ve tested it about literally 100 times, in a couple dozen fresh installs of WordPress, on two different hosts. Never worked once.

    Simple. And works. Too much to ask???
