First off I wanted to say fantastic plugin! It has accomplished pretty much everything I would want in a Popular Posts plugin, however I am having an issue with the way views are counted:

I am installing this plugin on an existing site that already has LOTS of posts. Before this plugin I was using the default WordPress functionality for counting views, however that was not sufficient. The problem I am having is that an existing post might have 1200 views (according to the way it was setup previously), but after installing the plugin it starts counting the views from 0. Resetting my existing post view count is not an option. Is there a way to have the plugin grab the existing view count on posts and then start counting addition views on top of that?

    Regards,

    Thanks!

    Hi there!

Sorry for the late reply, it’s been pretty busy for me lately. I’m glad to know you find my plugin useful!

AFAIK, self-hosted WordPress setup don’t keep count of page views (www.ads-software.com sites does because they use the Jetpack plugin for that). This is one of the reasons why I created this plugin: to add page views functionality to self-hosted WordPress blogs.

Assuming your site was using Jetpack for tracking views count, I might try and find a way to “import” the data into WPP since this has been requested before by other people as well. Can’t give you an ETA though, since as I said before I’m going to be quite busy till the end of the year (probably) so I’m only taking care of bug fixes for the time being. Once I get more free time, new features might be introduced.
