Hi, I ‘ve been using Nelio external feature image for a long time and all my feature images are external images (over 350).
How can I migrate to Nelio content without breaking all the existing feature images??? I don’t want to keep using Nelio external feature image as it is not updated anymore.
    Any help would be appriciated
    Cheers

    Hi Chris,

External featured images are saved in a post meta (named _nelioefi_url). Nelio Content uses the same post meta for displaying external featured images, so installing Nelio Content and disabling Nelio External Featured Image is all that it takes to migrate.

Now, whenever you’re about to update or install new plugins, change themes, and so on… it’s strongly recommended to backup your site first. This way, if anything goes wrong, you can recover the last stable state.

    I hope this helps!

    All the best,
    David

Hi David, thanks for your help!!
The problem is that now I’m kind of forced into signing up for a product I don’t actually want and need (Nelio content). It is not exacly fair to change a free plugin into a paid and even very expensive one forcing long term users into making a purchase.
I now have to options: Signing up for an expensive product I don’t even use (apart form the external feature image) or
    2. Finding a replacement plugin and fix my 350+ feature images manually.

    Not very nice….!

    Hi Chris!

You’re absolutely right! It’s not fair to change a free plugin into a paid one – that’s why Nelio Content has a completely free version, and external featured images are available in this free version. It also includes some additional stuff (such as an editorial calendar or sharing posts on social media upon publication) that is completely free.

If you’re interested in the extended functionalities, then you can subscribe to one of our plans. But, again, if you’re only interested in the external featured images, Nelio Content is as free as Nelio External Featured Images was ??

Ok. Thanks I did not realize that.
When I went to my wordpress dashboard it said I needed to install Nelio content.
I clicked on the link, landed on the website… saw a generic promo video and then looked under “pricing”. It only shows the monthly cost of a paid version. No mention of a free version. This will be very confusing to a lot of people…

But thanks anyway. Now that I know I will search for the free version.
