    HI,

I’m reading up on how to migrate from Yoast to your plugin, and just want to check something. The most important thing for me is that we don’t lose our meta descriptions/post SEO titles (as distinct from the post titles). Can you confirm that these are transferable?

Any other considerations when migrating? What will we keep/lose?

    Hi athemes,

The data will be copied, not moved, so you can’t lose anything :).
The extra data added to each page/post is negligible in size. It’s like having an extra hidden sentence.

The meta descriptions and SEO titles will indeed be copied, as well as the noindex and nofollow robots options, and the redirect and canonical URL.

The way the titles are handled could be different, keep an eye out on that, but it shouldn’t cause too many problems.

What will not be copied is the terms and taxonomies data. This includes author, categories and tags.

Let me know how everything went ??
Thanks and have a great day!

    Thanks for the reply.

Could you possibly clarify this? What do you mean by ‘author’? For categories I assume you mean meta descriptions for category pages – I don’t have any of those anyway. And for tags – you don’t mean the native WordPress post tags? Some other kind of tag?

Looking through the Yoast settings for Taxonomies I think I know what you mean now. I don’t really use any of those options I don’t think. There’s a title template for each one but that’s about it.

Sorry to be such a bother, but our site is quite big/busy.

    Hi athemes,

    Sure thing!
Some SEO plugins have author SEO data, like the title, image, description, etc.
This is yet to be planned for The SEO Framework (in about one to two months) and is yet to be supported by the data transporter, which I’m also planning on making a custom data transporter to cover these areas too.

With tags I mean any tag, including the WordPress ones. This also counts for categories.

Sorry to be such a bother, but our site is quite big/busy.

Not a problem at all! These questions show me where I should improve the information provided. Thanks! ??

I hope this clears things up! Let me know if you still have uncertainties or questions.
