    Hi,

I’m running a LAMP server and named virtual hosts to server up a number of sites (2 of which are WordPress networks) from a single box.

Using named virtual hosts, I’ve got a number of domains resolving correctly to their respective web folders but the sites are all running on subdomains:

    • pgblog.domain.ac.uk
    • hub.domain.ac.uk
    • pgblog.careers.domain.ac.uk
    • moodle.anotherdomain.org

The networks run perfectly except when a user creates a new site. The sites are totally inaccessible and give a 404.

I’ve read that I need to setup a wildcard DNS entry in my vhosts.conf file but I’m not sure if things are different as I’m already running named virtual hosts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    John

Yes, you can have wildcards and named subdomains ??

Having read around, I think although I’m trying to run WPMS on a subdomain, I’m actually trying to get new sites to appear in subfolders on said subdomain.

As such, everything is working (almost) but as you can see in my new thread, I’m now getting a 500 internal server error on any new site I create.
