    Hi,

We currently have the MaxGalleria “Media Library Folders Pro” plugin installed (connecting to AWS S3). We’re running WP in AWS in a scalable Elastic Beanstalk environment.

Does anyone here know what would be involved to move from that plugin, to WP Offload Media?

    Thanks,
    Steve

Do the already offloaded Media Library items have a predictable object Key?

If so, you may be able to use WP Offload Media’s “Add Metadata” tool to link up the Media Library with its bucket objects.

Worth a test on your staging site.

Thank you – is there any risk to the files in the bucket if I test this on my staging server?

    I’m expecting to:
    1. Install this with the meta tool
    2. Disable the existing Library Management tool
    3. Run your plugin and see if it all syncs up

You should always be careful when using multiple environments to access the same bucket, but the Add Metadata tool will not touch the objects when the link up is run.

There’s a second stage that verifies whether the assumed location in the bucket is correct, that just checks the bucket for the objects, but does not add/remove any objects. It will remove offload metadata if it can’t see the expected objects, no objects are touched.

However, once you’ve run the Add Metadata tool and a Media Library item is effectively linked up, verified or not, then if you remove the ML item or otherwise make any changes that could result in objects being added, updated or removed from the bucket, they will do so unless you alter the IAM User’s permissions to prevent that etc.
