• We are currently using “The Events Calendar” plugin on two wordpress websites. We would like to migrate to “My Calendar”, but as far as we can tell, importing event data requires the Pro version. This seems to work against increasing the market share of My Calendar, since many websites already use a particular calendar plugin and migrating the data that it manages would seem critical to changing plugins. If migration isn’t supported by the free version of My Calendar, it would seem only websites that do not currently use a calendar plugin are the only target market of My Calendar.

Is there any way to migrate the data of another calendar plugin to the free version of My Calendar?

Well, the event importing features in pro aren’t actually targeted at migrating from other plug-ins; they’re targeted at importing events from disparate external sources. However, it’s a good point to take into consideration, and migrating data from other plug-ins is something I should definitely take into consideration.

Right now, however, it’s not supported.

Thanks for your response. I have another question. We have test/development web site that we use for development and testing of new functionality or complex content before migrating it to the live web site. In order to test out My Calendar, I need to install it on the test/dev web site in order for those who maintain the calendar to determine if it fulfills our requirements. Currently, we have The Events Calendar plugin installed. I don’t want to uninstall this plugin in case it turns out My Calendar fails to meet our needs. So, the question is how to configure the test/dev website so both plugins are installed/

The first idea I had was deactivating The Events Calendar and choosing a slug for the events and event managed by My Calendar that is different from that used by The Events Calendar (which by default is “events” and “event”). However, I don’t know if there is a way to choose a different set of slugs for My Calendar to use and if so, whether there would still be conflicts between the two plugins. Can you advise us on this issue?

That shouldn’t be a problem; My Calendar uses the slug ‘mc-events’ by default if you turn on search friendly permalinks for individual events, and sets up a Page to do the general calendar handling. All of that is customizable, so you can work with it however you wish.

I’m not currently aware of conflicts that would prevent you from running both plugins at once, but I haven’t installed the Events Calendar alongside My Calendar for quite a long time.
