• Hello,

Curently we are migrating our wordpress.com content to www.ads-software.com. We are still making tests and I realized I cannot set my permalinks to exactly the same format wodpress.com does (pretty).
Looking at docs, I noticed I would be able to get rid of the “index.php” part from the post url only if set the mod_rewrite.

As my shared hosting runs windows server, they do not allow changes on mod_rewrite. Only on Linux servers.
I also do not have administrative privileges over the server.

What do I have to do to user pretty permalinks in my new www.ads-software.com considering this constraints?

    Regards,

    Igor.

    Hello,

I have alread read the Codex section on ho to use permalinks. However, as I do not have admin rights over my server (windows server).

So I still cannot see in this reference how to solve the problem.

    What should I do?

    Thank you,

    Igor.

See if your host will make the changes for you, or switch to Linux hosting.

    Hello,

Do you think that using Isapi Rewrite may work?

What configuration should I perform in this case?

    Thank you,

    Igor.

I don’t have any experience with it but it might. Do you have Isapi Rewrite available?

    Hello,

I don’t have experience either. I know I should drop a .htaccess file on my ftp folder where wordpress is hosted with a specific redirect configuration, but I don′t know what it is…

    Any thoughts?

    Igor.

Isapi Rewrite rule should be very similar to .htaccess rules. That’s what they claim, anyway. But, first, do you have access to Isapi Rewrite?

    Hello,

I tought that ISAPI Rewrite rule was implemented throught the usage of .htaccess (same things).

What do you recommend to do?

    Thank you,

    Igor.

Igor, for any of this to work you need to have certain things installed and enabled on the server. You need to find out what is installed and enabled on your server. Specifically, to use ISAPI Rewrite rules, you need to find out if ISAPI Rewrite is installed and enabled on your server.

    Hello apljdi,

I do have ISAPI 3 installed and enabled. At least is what my web hosting provider says…

What do I have to do next?

    Igor.

Like I said, I don’t have any experience with ISAPI Rewrite. This article does have some instructions though. Maybe it will help.
