    Hi guys,
i decided to migrate my site to a new domain.

In directadmin I made a backup of my database. Unziped the .gz file, edited it and changed all strings from sinspire.pl (the old domain) to banialuki.net (the new domain).

Then I uploaded the altered .gz file into new mysql database.

I copied all files from ftp and changed the database info in wp-config.php file. Afterwards I uploaded everything to the new ftp location.

Almost everything works fine after the migration.

There are several media files that are not visible on the site. I doublechecked it and they exist on the ftp. But when i try to access them from http wordpress writes that they don’t exist.

as you can see on the home page:
    https://www.banialuki.net/
the file https://www.banialuki.net/wp-content/uploads/Mamma-Marietta-casarecce-z-bak?a?anem-150×150.jpg is missing (in case it’s confusing for you – my theme shows a list of posts on 404 pages).

The issue is that for sure it exists on the ftp under this exact path. I would say that around 10% of media files are missing, but I can’t find any algorithm to differentiate them.

Any suggestions what to do to fix it? Thanks in advance for all your answers.

  • Did you try checking the permissions? Try changing the permissions to 755 and check.

thank you very much for your reply. as i see 644 was enough.

I realized the encoding of filename was the reason. files having only ascii letters in their names were ok after the first upload. those with additional national signs in filenames were affected.

I changed the encoding, uploaded files again and it helped!
