    Hi,

I’m planning on switching to shortpixel. Till now i used imagify, but they really messed up their “smart” optimization. So before maybe switching over i have a few questions.

    1. I would of course need to restore my originals before switching to shortpixel, after that do i also need to regenerate my thumbnails before running shortpixel or are you always starting the optimisation from the full image and generate/overwrite the thumbnails?

    2. Is it still possible to serve webp with a double suffix? Like .png.webp? if so, again do i need to delete the existing ones before optimizing with shortpixel or are you overwriting them anyway?

Thank you and Merci Mult ??
    Paul

Ok, forget about question number 1, i already figured out myself ?? restoring the originals also restores the thumbnails.

    Hi Paul!

Glad to have you onboard ??

About question number 2, it is possible to create your WebP files with double suffix, you just need to add a constant to your wp-config.php file. You can find it here: https://shortpixel.com/knowledge-base/article/276-list-of-constants-to-add-in-wp-config-php

If you don’t delete the existing WebP files, ShortPixel will not overwrite them, but I would actually recommend you deleting them before optimizing. This way you will know that the WebPs have been created from the ShortPixel-optimized ones.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi again @sixaxis

Another quick question if i also convert png to jpg does that happen before or after optimization and webp generation?

What i would like to do is: Convert png to jpg -> optimize jpg/generate webp is it that way?

    All the best,
    Paul

    Hi again @paulschiretz!

The conversion happens after optimization, so you just need to upload the image in the format you want, and ShortPixel will take care of the rest ??
