• I’m not savvy when it comes to all of this so I want to transfer to wordpress.com from my www.ads-software.com blog. (beadnerd.com/blog/)

I spent all day trying to figure out why I don’t have permissions to things I once had permissions to, like managing my links. I don’t seem to be able to manage anything but posts I’ve made and I can’t figure out what happened.

So, now I’ve decided, enough is enough, time to transfer to wordpress.com and I need to download plugins to generate an xml file. Which I did. But if I can’t get to my plug-ins, what good will that do.

Can anyone help me? PLEASE? I promise to leave you .org-ers alone then. ??

  • Well…. I’m not sure that can be done…. if it could, there should be an “import” option somewhere in your wordpress.com blog admin section.

.com blogs don’t allow you to do plugins, special themes, OR business sites….

There is an import option but it is requesting that I:

“Upload your WordPress eXtended RSS (WXR) file and we’ll import the posts, comments, custom fields, and categories into this blog.

Choose a WordPress WXR file to upload, then click Upload file and import.”

The thing is, I don’t have a WXR file, that I know of so I researched it and found the directions to getting one made. link here:

The thing is, it’s a plug-in for www.ads-software.com blogs and I can’t access my plug-ins because they’ve disappeared from my ‘manage’ options (as has my ability to update links or themes)

any idea how to restore those options?

Huh…. no, since I’ve never had that occur before. Did you install anything new just before that happened? If not, did you check with your host to see if THEY did something?

Other than wordpress.com and blogrunn.com, there’s also https://www.transycan.net/start-blogging/ – which while not free is VERY reasonable, and doesn’t care if you’re trying to run a business, etc.

Thank you. I transferred to a Mac and was trying to fix the problem where the quicktags didn’t appear. I finally got that fixed then realized I no longer had any admin capabilities other than writing a post and editing a handful of my recent posts. I can’t edit older posts of my own now. Something strange happened.

Someone please help…how do I get my plug-in and other admin abilities back. I also get the “you don’t have sufficient permissions” to even add a link to my blog.
