    Hello,

I developed a website which is now ready to be delivered, but I cannot migrate it, apparently due to the Wordfence plugin.

I’ve read -on a french website- that it already happened (last month) to someone who had to fully delete Wordfence, to finally be able to migrate the site.

Thus, I tried to delete it (unistall + delete wpwf in database + delete the wordfence-waf.php in main directory) but it still does not work and I still get this message :
Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/var/www/vhosts/MY-OLD-DOMAIN-NAME.com/httpdocs/wordfence-waf.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php5.4′) in Unknown on line 0

What do I have to do to fully delete it, to erase all traces of wordfence from my site ?
Any other simple solution to keep the plugin working and compatible with migrations ?

I actually like the plugin, but what a pain when it comes to migration… :S

    Thanks for your help

Huh, I forgot to delete the user.ini in the main directory.

Just did it. It looks like it improved things.

I’ll just come back to confirm the migration finally worked or if I still have problems.

    Well, it worked.

So I sum up how I fixed it, in case anyone needs :

    – Unistalled Wordfence the usual way (via wordpress interface)
    – Deleted wf tables in database
    – Deleted wordfence-waf.php in main site directory
    – Deleted user.ini in main site directory (or just delete the Wordfence lines within the .ini)

Uploaded cleared files and database to new server.
    Site migration worked well.
Feel free to re-install Wordfence on the new website.

    Hi Guillaumedav,

while searching for a solution of the same problem I found your post. Having a lot of sites to migrate with Wordfence. Thanks for your documentation with deleting. But there must be an “official way” by Wordfence how to migrate – without deleting.

A supporting response by the wordfence support would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Conrad

At the bottom of the Wordfence Firewall page, there is a section called Advanced Configuration where you can Remove Extended Protection. (screenshot) It is recommended to temporarily remove extended protection before migrating a site with the Wordfence Firewall installed.

It is also possible to disable or uninstall the Wordfence Firewall manually by following these steps.

Thanks for your explanation. So i am going the official way.

    Regards
    Conrad
