Migrating WP from one host to another

  • Hello all,

    Being a newbie with WP I’m stuck with an issue and can’t seem to find a solution in the Codex or elsewhere.

    I registered my domain name https://www.svanstraten.com with LCN, who I have used for registrations in the past. I saw that they offered WP as a hosted solution and signed up. The only problem was that they’re stuck with V 2.3.1 and don’t seem to be offering any upgrades. This wasn’t apparent at signup.

    Therefore, I purchased a hosted solution through a WP recommended host, Just Host. I’ve tried setting up WP with them, however, my domain is still pointing to the version that I created within WP via LCN. I can’t find any options to transfer or delete the original installation.

    Can someone forgive my ignorance and tell me how to correct this please?

  • You just need to change the nameservers of your domain to point to the new server. Talk to your new host and ask for help to make the changes and they will provide the new nameservers that you need.
