Migration & bulk metadata import questions

FILEAWAY CONTACT
Hi, Thom. I’ve been trying your FileAway plugin and I really love it. I’ve been using WP-Filebase Pro and got fed-up with their lack of customer support.
Yours seems like such a sophisticated system for uploading and managing files, and your users sing the praises to your super-helpful support. I’ve got a couple of inter-related projects that I would be very happy to pay you for assisting me with.
I’ve got a few questions, as I continue to try out your plugin:IMPORTS
- Is there a straight-forward workflow to bulk-transfer files managed by WP-Filebase Pro to FileAway, including metadata and thumbnails?
- Can I bulk-import files and metadata using a plugin like WP All Import Pro or something similar?
- One of my projects involves scanning a very large number of PDF files; resulting in a CSV file with fields containing the PDF filenames and their associated metadata. Is there a workflow for mass-importing this CSV that will maintain the association between the files and metadata?
METADATA
- Instead of Categories, would I use folders and sub-folders to oragnize files in FileAway?
- Can an upload form allow users to fill in previously defined database customdata without having to first upload the files and then rename them afterwards?
- If I use file-based customdata, does the metadata get stored in the database, or is it only stored in the filename?
- Is there support for tags or other native wordpress taxonomies, or is metadata only handled by creating customdata?
- Is there a way to extract metadata built into a PDF or extract a thumbnail image from a PDF’s first page?
- If there isn’t a way to extract PDF thumbnails or metadata, do you know of a way to extract them using a different plugin or server application like Ghostscript?
- One of your screenshots or tutorials mentions that FileAway can work with WP-Better-Attachments. Is it necessary to also install WP-Better-Attachments, or is it optional?
Thank you!
