• Hi all,

    I have recently finished setting up my first WordPress site. It is a small site with only three sections. But now I want to add a fourth – a very simple blog called What’s New. This is what I’m trying to accomplish:

    1. I am the siteadmin and will be the only person adding posts.
    2. Categories are not needed.
    3. At this point, I am not interested in allowing users to add comments.
    4. I would like to allow users to share and like.

    So basically, I would like the layout to look like this:

    * Post Title *
    * Post Date *
    * Article *
    * Share/Like buttons *
    …. then next post

    A perfect example is the News page right here on this site: https://www.ads-software.com/news/

    I am using the Highend theme.

    So…. can someone help me get started? Thanks,

    Chris

  • Since you are using a commercial theme, I had a look and there seems to be various blog layout options available for you to choose from. Take a look at the ‘Blog’ drop down options here.

    To set up your blog component, within your dashboard create a page and call it ‘blog’ or whatever you wish to use. Then go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading then under ‘Front page displays’ select the ‘blog’ page (you created earlier) as your ‘posts’ page.

    In terms of the blog variations your theme has, you can probably find the options on the right side of your ‘blog’ page under ‘Templates’.

    As well, I would suggest contacting the Theme Support forum if you have any further questions.
