Minimalist perfection

  • Frustrated with existing sharing widgets, I set out to roll my own. After an hour of coding, I had another look at the plugin repo and found this. Since it’s virtually exactly what I would have coded for myself, 5 stars.

    However, since it’s a public plugin I’d love to see:

    • Optional counters.
    • Option to reorder services.

    Many thanks for the 5 star rating!!

    I have been thinking about the counters idea! I don’t want to rely on the individual social sites to load the data, as this would slow things down. My thoughts are to use the WordPress DB already being used to store the numbers after each click, under fields such as ssba_facebook_count

    Of course this would mean that people could manipulate the data by clicking it themselves over and over, but I’m also thinking it would allow me to create a simple tracking screen in the admin panel.

    The idea to reorder services is another good one, I shall try and get that in place too when I have the time.
