Im having some issues with page load speeds for a site Im building,

Its getting to the point were Im considering splitting the site between 2 installs as I cant seem to find a decent page load for the bare minimum of

WordPress with 2014 theme and WooCommerce.

What should the raw install size of WordPress 2014 and WooCommerce be ? and an average page load speed be ?

This will give me a baseline to compare the additional themes, plugins and images that I want to install in my site. Im trying to keep my site to under 3 – 4 seconds in page loads but struggling. I also understand page load is dependent on a lot of factors. But wondered if there was a bare minimum size that WooCommerce would download at ? if WooCommerce and WordPress with 2014 theme downloads at a minimum of 2 seconds (based on results from GTMetrix for example) that doesn’t leave a lot of room for extra plugins, different themes and additional images does it ?

    Anyone assist ?

This isn’t really a fixed metric, as you say its based on all sorts. Whats running, theme, host, server config, version of PHP etc etc etc.

This is by no means optimised, but the storefront demo site runs woocommerce https://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dxRBFv/https://demo.woothemes.com/storefront/ and thats < 2 secs.

Fair enough I also note that you run some rather impressive graphics on that site as well . . . Im doing an audit of the components of my own site and will probably use Storefront as a base theme now. So that additional plugins such as Dynamic Pricing and Discounts, Extra Product Options, Minimum and Max Quantities, Advanced Shipping etc that we’ve decided to use . . not to mention the odd metrics or wordpress enhancement plugins don’t take it to an unusable speed.

Thx for the quick reply Mike

Is there a “optimum/best” server specification and configuration available ?

We use EUKhost and wondered if the Linux Shared account and the server config we have (just been told by an EUKhost admin theyve enabled Gzip compression on the server) is the optimum / best configuration for running woocommerce ?

If theres a recommended Hosting company ? and package / settings . . .that would be useful information . . . Thx in advance

    Hi there,

A base recommendation for specific stats can be found via the suggestions in the “System Status” screen within WooCommerce. This will indicate if any specifications aren’t at the optimum level.

While WooCommerce can run on even an entry-level-spec server, it’d be worth investing in a VPS or dedicated hosting in the long run, once your store gains traction and begins generating revenue.

I would advise comparing the packages listed here to your EUKHost account and seeing if the specifications match up. If so, then EUKHost should be a suitable option.

If you have further questions around this, please do let me know. ??
